The Director of Hygiene will oversee the hygiene department, ensuring clinical excellence and operational efficiency. This role involves managing a team of hygienists, implementing best practices, and maintaining high standards of patient care. Additionally, the Director of Hygiene will see patients 1-2 days per week to stay connected with clinical practice and patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Supervise and mentor the hygiene team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for the hygiene department
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the hygiene team, providing feedback and professional development opportunities

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide high-quality dental hygiene care to patients 1-2 days per week, including cleanings, examinations, and preventive treatments
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in dental hygiene and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care

Operational Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards, including OSHA and HIPAA
  • Manage scheduling, inventory, and budgeting for the hygiene department
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize patient flow and enhance the overall patient experience

Patient Care and Education:

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care
  • Address patient concerns and ensure a high level of patient satisfaction

Quality Improvement:

  • Analyze hygiene department performance metrics and implement improvement strategies
  • Lead initiatives to enhance patient care quality and operational efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene or related field; Masters degree preferred
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical dental hygiene experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role within a dental practice
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements
