Position Summary

The Senior Survey Office Technician will be part of a team tasked with the day-to-day performance of various land surveying and mapping projects across several industries utilizing products from one or more of the production verticals in our company.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Senior Survey Office Technician are to assist the Survey Department by supporting the development of technical documents and other mapping products as directed in order to meet budgets, deadlines and quality standards set forth by clients and management. The ideal candidate will be an experienced survey technician with a working knowledge of the workflows involved in the Land Surveying and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry.

The Senior Survey Office Technician will work with a group of field surveyors and office technicians as required to complete each task of a project which could include; records research, Civil3D mapping, Trimble Business Center (TBC) post-processing of GPS data, producing legal land description exhibits, and various other land survey products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently along-side a California Licensed Surveyor on various types of survey projects related to public utilities, infrastructure construction, and land development with tasks including, but not limited to: Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right of Way Surveys, Terrestrial & Mobile Laser Scanning, Legal Descriptions, Horizontal & Vertical Control Networks, Aerial Mapping, Construction Staking, As-built Surveys & Mapping, GIS services and other various survey/mapping exhibits.
  • Assist with production tasks like GPS post-processing, Civil3D linework generation, map preparation, etc.
  • Manage and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established by management.
  • Participate in the Survey user group meetings and project kick-off meetings as required.
  • Perform other incidental and related survey office duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (discipline in survey, engineering, or other closely related field of study)
  • 5+ years of experience working on land survey projects including property boundary surveys
  • Land-Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certification is preferred
  • Experience with record document reviews including researching property boundaries
  • Advanced and experienced user of AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and other common mapping and survey processing software packages
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office to produce and edit professional documents
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
