Infection Prevention Director (RN or LPN) - CA

Position Summary
The Infection Prevention Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the facility's infection prevention and control program. This role ensures compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations and works collaboratively with all departments to promote a safe, infection-free environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective infection prevention and control program based on current evidence-based practices.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and communicable diseases.
- Monitor infection control practices of staff and provide education and corrective actions as needed.
- Lead infection prevention audits, risk assessments, and outbreak investigations.
- Develop and update policies and procedures related to infection control, PPE usage, isolation protocols, and hand hygiene.
- Prepare for and participate in state and federal surveys, ensuring documentation and protocols meet regulatory requirements.
- Analyze infection trends and develop action plans for improvement.
- Collaborate with environmental services, dietary, and nursing staff to ensure facility-wide compliance.
- Maintain vaccination records and coordinate immunization programs for residents and staff (e.g., influenza, COVID-19, TB testing).
- Provide staff training and orientation related to infection control principles and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of infection control regulations (CDC, OSHA, CMS, state).
- Excellent communication, education, and organizational skills. Proficiency with electronic
- CDC or APIC infection prevention training course preferred or willingness to complete within required timeframe health records (e.g., PointClickCare) and tracking tools
Education & Experience
- Current RN or LPN license in good standing.
- Minimum of 1–2 years in long-term care or acute care with infection control experience.
