Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential care and support to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of licensed nurses, the CNA assists residents with activities of daily living, ensures their comfort and safety, and helps maintain a clean, supportive environment in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Provide assistance with mobility, positioning, and transferring residents using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
  • Ensure residents' personal hygiene and living areas are clean, safe, and comfortable.
  • Assist in the prevention of pressure injuries by turning and repositioning residents as needed.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests.
  • Support residents' rights and dignity at all times.
  • Participate in care team meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Follow standard precautions and infection control guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and respectful attitude toward the elderly and disabled.

Education & Experience

  • Current CNA certification.
  • CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required per facility).
  • Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
