Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential care and support to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of licensed nurses, the CNA assists residents with activities of daily living, ensures their comfort and safety, and helps maintain a clean, supportive environment in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Provide assistance with mobility, positioning, and transferring residents using proper techniques and equipment.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Observe and report changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
- Ensure residents' personal hygiene and living areas are clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Assist in the prevention of pressure injuries by turning and repositioning residents as needed.
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests.
- Support residents' rights and dignity at all times.
- Participate in care team meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Follow standard precautions and infection control guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Compassionate, dependable, and respectful attitude toward the elderly and disabled.
Education & Experience
- Current CNA certification.
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required per facility).
- Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
