Position Summary

The Development Associate will support Senior Development Staff in managing real estate projects through the pre-development, construction, and closeout phases. This role requires a proactive and resourceful individual who thrives in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The Development Associate plays a key role in ensuring that projects advance on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, oversee, and ultimately be responsible for the management of project budgets, schedules, and quality for all assigned projects.
  • Lead the full coordination of entitlement, design, and construction execution by overseeing and being responsible for the daily progress, communication, and performance of all development professionals, including general contractors, consultants, and design teams.
  • Provide analytical, quantitative, and operational support to the Development and Construction teams.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence and feasibility analysis by coordinating third-party reports (e.g., environmental, geotechnical, survey, zoning).
  • Participate in oversight and coordination of consultants, contractors, and design professionals.
  • Review and interpret architectural, civil, MEP, and interior design plans for quality control and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with city and government agencies to secure entitlements, permits, zoning approvals, easements, and other entitlements.
  • Ensure that the design, construction, and sales teams maintain project documentation and communications through the company's internal project management systems.
  • Assist with preparing status reports for investors, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct market analysis and research related to project feasibility and industry trends.
  • Contribute to leasing, sales, and marketing strategy and collateral development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • High-level communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting development and construction-related documents.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including design and construction professionals.

Education & Experience

  • 8–10 years of experience in Construction, Real Estate Development, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Real Estate, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
