Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Lighting/DJ Equipment Technician to join our full-time team. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful setup, operation, and maintenance of all lighting, audio, and DJ equipment for various events and projects. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of professional audio, lighting, and DJ systems, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Equipment Setup and Teardown:

  • Transport, load, unload, set up, and tear down a wide range of lighting fixtures, effects (e.g., fog machines, lasers), sound systems (speakers, amplifiers, mixers), and DJ equipment (turntables, CDJs, controllers).
  • Properly connect and cable all equipment, ensuring safety standards and optimal performance.
  • Configure and test systems according to event specifications and technical riders.

Operation and Monitoring:

  • Operate lighting consoles and software to create dynamic lighting designs for events.
  • Monitor audio levels and quality during events, making adjustments as needed.
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshoot any equipment issues promptly.

Maintenance and Inventory:

  • Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of all equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
  • Assist with inventory management, tracking equipment usage, damages, and returns.
  • Identify and report equipment requiring repair or replacement.

Client and Team Interaction:

  • Collaborate effectively with event managers, DJs, VJs, and other team members to understand and execute event requirements.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service on-site.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety guidelines, and event schedules.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with warehouse organization and equipment prep.
  • Stay updated with new industry technologies and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with various types of lighting fixtures (e.g., moving heads, LEDs, uplights) and control protocols (DMX).
  • Basic knowledge of audio signal flow, PA systems, and DJ equipment (e.g., Pioneer CDJs/Mixers, Serato/Rekordbox software).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and event layouts.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for audio and lighting equipment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and basic power tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing schedules and demands.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes at heights

Education & Experience

  • 1-2 years of proven experience in setting up and operating professional lighting, sound, or DJ equipment in a live event or venue setting
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification or degree is a plus.
