Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Material Handling/De-Boxing Associate to join our team in a food processing facility. The primary responsibility of this role is to handle, unpack, and process products weighing up to 60 pounds, ensuring efficient and safe material flow within the facility. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and hygiene protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced food processing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Unpacking and De-Boxing: Safely unpack and de-box products weighing up to 60 pounds, ensuring items are free from damage and properly sorted for further processing in compliance with food safety standards.
- Material Handling: Move, lift, and transport products, boxes, and materials within the food processing facility using appropriate equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts, if certified).
- Inventory Management: Verify product quantities and conditions, reporting any discrepancies or damages to the supervisor to maintain food quality and safety.
- Safety and Hygiene Compliance: Follow all safety and food safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and adherence to hygiene protocols (e.g., wearing appropriate PPE, maintaining cleanliness) to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain material handling equipment to ensure functionality and report any issues promptly to avoid contamination or operational delays.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely and communicate with other warehouse and food processing staff to meet daily operational goals and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations, food safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver products weighing up to 60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds regularly
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions typical of a food processing facility (e.g., cold storage areas, temperature variations).
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Forklift certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or de-boxing in a food processing environment preferred but not required.
