Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Supervisor to lead and support our fire alarm technicians across installation, maintenance, and inspection activities. This role requires a technically strong, detail-oriented professional who values precision, clear standards, and consistent field execution. You will serve as the primary on-site leader ensuring all work is performed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with NFPA 72 and local jurisdiction requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide daily supervision to field technicians performing installations, service, and inspections.
  • Ensure all work meets NFPA 72, manufacturer requirements, and AHJ standards.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate work quality, documentation accuracy, and compliance.
  • Attend project kickoffs and final checkouts to validate readiness and technical alignment.
  • Become the Service-side Subject Mattyer Expert for new products and services and drive the implementation in the field.

Technician Coaching & Development

  • Meet with each technician at least twice per month for field-based coaching.
  • Provide structured feedback to improve troubleshooting, communication, and professional conduct.
  • Lead monthly in-office training sessions focused on technical skill development.

Operational Coordination

  • Communicate daily with management regarding project status, technician performance, and field issues.
  • Partner with Engineering and Project Management to ensure accurate scopes, proper preparation, and efficient execution.
  • Document all updates, findings, and field activity in the company's service management system.

Quality, Compliance & Efficiency

  • Maintain a 95+ percent on-time arrival rate across the field team.
  • Ensure labor budgets are met through proper planning, field oversight, and workflow discipline.
  • Enforce standards for uniforms, documentation, safety practices, and mobile app usage.
  • Identify process gaps and implement corrective actions to improve performance.

Customer Interaction

  • Serve as the professional NY Fire representative with GCs, electricians, foremen, building managers, and inspectors.
  • Provide clear explanations of technical requirements, field conditions, and work progress.
  • Assist in resolving field issues with a calm, systematic, code-driven approach.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of NFPA 72 and local fire alarm/AHJ requirements.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, or train technical field staff.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability across conventional and addressable systems.
  • Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail.

 Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, service, or inspection.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • NICET II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems. (Preferred)
  • Experience leading field teams in a structured service or construction environment. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with EST/Edwards systems is a strong plus. (Preferred)
